Almost swollen shut

Black and purple

People whispering

Into each other’s ears

Wondering what you had done

To deserve this black eye

In the way that only a teenage

Girl can be

I hit you once myself

At a middle school dance

Cruel and hurtful to me

      1. Thank you. Sometimes I am still speechless when people pay me compliments like this. I TRY to be brave, I TRY to write about the things we don’t usually write about but I never know if I am saying the right thing, saying enough, being human enough.
