The Daily Song: All I Need Is You Jeffrey James

This is one of those songs that just instantly spoke to my heart– the music, the lyrics, Jeffrey James’ voice.  It just does it for me.  Another one of my favorites to write to.  There is a poem stirring in my head about “love I can bathe in, A love that will wash over my skin
Till it’s all I feel.”

“All I Need Is You”

And now
Now that the moments right
Now I can spend my life
Just holding on to you
And all
All that I can take
Is more than you could break
So don’t you be afraidAnd I’ll always try
Got nothing to hide

And I have been waiting
Waiting for love I can bathe in
A love that will wash over my skin
Till it’s all I feel
So won’t you show me
Show me that woman who knows me
Woman who knows all that I need
All I need
All I need is you

You with your perfect touch
You never giving up,
On me
And I’ll do my best
To wear my heart on my chest

And I have been waiting
Waiting for love I can bathe in
A love that will wash over my skin
Till it’s all I feel
So won’t you show me
Show me that woman who knows me
Woman who knows all that I need
All I need
All I need
All I need
All I need is you
All I need is you

  1. Its a beautiful song, love the piano, which makes it that much more powerful. A great love song, ballad. One more I haven’t shared with the one I lost, at least.

    1. Glad to know that I am able to introduce you to some new music without heavy associations. I tend to keep a list of break-up songs in my head that bring up those memories. Apparently I played Melissa Etheridge a little obsessively when my first real adult relationship ended. Listening to that album still brings back all those sleepless nights after all those years. It is amazing what things imprint in our memories. I have a very contextual memory– might have trouble telling you what I had for lunch yesterday but can recall who was out to dinner with me ten years ago, what they were wearing, who was sitting next to who and what story was told at the table.

  2. Yes, thank you. Life is hard enough as it is without a shitty break-up on top of things. And its hard to find those new songs without the “heavy associations.” Jeez, we started with a break-up song… then all the melancholy love ballads in between, all the concerts. Now I torture myself every once in while and play that shit for hours.
