Saline expressions
of ancient grief
crystalline drops
quiver
rest briefly
before slow roll down
burning cheek
caress contours of neck
leave thin pale trail
on bare skin
sink gracefully
around the curve of breast
to dissolve on aching heart
an age of endless water
her blue phase

As difficult as they are, they are proof that a heart still beats. Blood still flows.

Christine, another stunning poem! Beautifully written, and wonderfully visual. Your last two lines are extremely powerful, “an age of endless water / her blue phase”, these lines would make for a fantastic quote. ~ Mia
