I have really been missing the comradery and creative energy of the blogging world. I thought I would ease my way back into regular blogging on Brave and Reckless by revisiting a favorite set of daily writing prompts inspired by the fabulous- and informative- book Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction. Revisiting these prompts gives me the opportunity to reshare the diverse and ingenuous responses I received the first time I ran the challenge in 2019, and hopefully meet some new writers and artists who are inspired by these tantalizing book titles.
The only rule is that your writing or art uses one of the book titles as your piece title OR integrates all the words in one of the titles into your piece somehow.
If you would like to have your piece considered for publication on my blog Brave and Reckless, email to me at her.red.pen.wordsmithing@gmail.com.
You can also participate on Instagram by tagging your writing/art with:
- #the title of the daily theme
- #MonsterSheWroteChallenge2021
- @stitchypoet
You can also share your response pieces in the comments below the Daily Prompt.
Thank you, Christine. I’ve missed your prompts (and as a result, slacked off a bit).

I LOVED your writing the first time I used these prompts! It has been so fun this morning to queue them up to publish again this month.
