she wore black
to honor the memory
of the women who had fallen
at the hands of men
those who knew her said her soul
was as black as her Harley
but the truth was
she had seen reality
looked at it with eyes open wide
and she knew
that the only way women
could survive
was to strike first
and never look back
she wore black
for a reason
to remind others
of what was being taken from them

I’m an artist, a writer, a vegetarian, an animal rights activist, and quite a few other things as well. I love books, cats, philosophy, good conversation, Chicago and the arts. So my blog is full of bits and pieces but it’s the bits and pieces that make life interesting to me. You can read more of my writing at Rethinking Life
