The Book of Delights – Georgiann Carlson

the Book of Delights
was handed down through the females
in her family for as long as anyone could remember
the women who had it
wrote in the margins
adding their thoughts
hopes
and dreams
some drew pictures
made wishes
or wrote the instructions to useful spells
the book told of living in a world without violence
living in a world of equality and respect
it was filled with stories
and poetry about beauty
and the love of nature
photographs of birds and foxes
owls and ravens were tucked lovingly between pages
as were the likenesses of the women themselves
there was one very long chapter
telling the reader how to create the life she wanted
truth be told
the entire Book of Delights
was a book of creation
because after all
in the beginning

there was woman…

So my blog is full of bits and pieces but it’s the bits and pieces that make life interesting to me. You can read more of my writing at Rethinking Life
