The Cubic Weight of Sadness – Christine E. Ray

sadness
covers like
a blanket
of thick
wet snow
yardstick-deep
melancholy
weighs me
to the ground
masks my eyes
fills my nose
mouth
deadening
my senses
suffocating me
mere feet from
the warmth
safety
of the
open door

  1. I don’t think I ever read this one of yours before and I was pretty sure I had read EVERYTHING you ever wrote and published. Well I thought this was superb – just superb. Absolutely evoked the feeling and then some. Brava.
