winter gardens
may be asleep
but they are full of life
and beauty
birds flit back and forth
squirrels
and other animals
hunt for food
and nest
in the branches
of leafless trees
while fairies
warmly dressed
dance under the stars
on the sparkling snow
and though their colors are faded
the beauty of flowers
is not diminished
as their dry petals and leaves
make the perfect home for snowflakes
while tiny beings sleep soundly
underground
dreaming of spring

I’m an artist, a writer, a vegetarian, an animal rights activist, and quite a few other things as well. I love books, cats, philosophy, good conversation, Chicago and the arts. So my blog is full of bits and pieces but it’s the bits and pieces that make life interesting to me. You can read more of my writing at Rethinking Life
