I will not be silent
I will not maintain the peace
I will say the ugly words
out loud and I will not flinch
Murder
Rape
Incest
Stalking
Harassment
Discrimination
Domestic Violence
Mansplaining
Discounted simply because we are women
To find our voices as women
to speak our truth
is a revolutionary act
that says that your voice
her voice
their voices
my voice
Matter
Count
Have weight
Deserve to be heard
Are valid
If my refusal to be silent
Makes me a bitch
A shrew
A ball-breaker
Then I will be loudest damn badass bitch that I can be
Silence leaves us to blame ourselves in isolation
Silence benefits only those who have hurt us
Silence has been the noose around my neck
The soul ache of my pent-up screams of rage
Every 13th story window I have considered walking out of
How fucked up is that?!

I hear you loud and clear, so much strength and courage – next time you’re on the 13th floor, scream this out the window!

Indeed– it is time to direct that rage out, not continue to let it eat my insides.

Agreed! I have a tendency to direct it inward as well.

It is an easy place to store rage and hard to unlearn

Really a big applause! It reflects your mind and how crazy this society is. An amazing piece, I simply loved it.

I am so glad that it moved you. It was for Dom, and me and all of us who need to shrug off the heavy weight of silence.

Yes that silence is the biggest burden of all, everybody definitely should shrug it off!

Christime Ray is an amazing poet. Her poems always have this scalding heat which will burn you if you are in the wrong, Illuminate if you are in the dark. This is one of them. An amazingly well written piece!! Visit her blog for some more mind stunning works.

Very inspiring and empowering. Our “silence” can keep us stuck in pain and misery. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you dear knight. As you know, the war is ongoing and the stakes high.

As is the cost of silence and you’ve said it brilliantly, as usual, that the biggest way we are complicit in our own defeat is to stay silent about things.
Those who wish to oppress need dark and quiet to do so. Therefore light and truth are the only paths to victory. Have a great day, Christine!

True that is..to keep silence and let yourself to be played and be the victim. You can only choose not to be the one. Very nicely worded and the message is clear and empowering.

I struggled with the decision to post your response. To be a survivor is to have lived through something traumatic, something soul changing, where you had no power through circumstance or design by something or someone external. All survivors were once victim of something out of their complete control– “played” seems like very loaded language.

Thank you for considering my comment and to post it. I can`t say that i can understand the pain you have gone through, but to me writing is one way to vent out and to reach and to salve the wounds of others. Looking forward for more from you.
